Wellington, FL - February 7, 2010 - Pony Hunters took the spotlight today at the South Grounds of the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center.
Twelve-year-old Victoria Colvin had a successful end to her weekend, piloting Vanity Fair to the championship and For the Laughter to the reserve championship in the Large Pony Hunters. Both ponies are owned by Dr. Betsee Parker.
Between her two mounts, Colvin won every Large Pony Hunter class this weekend. The beautiful bay gelding, Vanity Fair, is nine years old, and won both classes over fences yesterday, was second in the under saddle, as well as second and first over fences today to claim the championship over his seven-year-old barn mate, For the Laughter. For the Laughter placed third and second over fences yesterday, won the under saddle, and won the first over fences class today.
The Loxahatchee, FL resident commented on what it is like to ride Vanity Fair, or "Coco" as he is known in the barn, "He's really easy. He has a really good canter because he's really comfortable." The pair has consistently dominated the Large Pony Hunters throughout the circuit.
Colvin has been riding for six years, and is starting to do some jumper competition as well. After she picked up her multiple tricolors at the Large Pony ring, Colvin raced over to the Children's Jumper ring, where she would compete next.
Colvin is a seventh-grader at the nearby #1 Education Place, which helps her organize her busy competition schedule.
The fifth week of the 2010 FTI Winter Equestrian Festival, sponsored by Spy Coast Farm, will run from February 10-14 and feature a full schedule of hunter, jumper, and equitation competition.
