‘Almost Spring’ and February 'Leap' Year Greetings from Horses in the South!
What a gorgeous ‘Chamber of Commerce’ weekend in Florida for horse shows! How does one decide what shows to attend as there are so many available? Just this weekend March 1-2, 2008, the Florida Horse Park is having the Sunshine State FEI Combined Driving Event with the ‘4
In Hand Division’ being sponsored by Post Hill Farm and HorsesintheSouth.com, and Canterbury Equestrian Showplace is having the Southeast Twice as Nice recognized Dressage show where my trainer Kathy Daly of KDEquine Training and my fellow NFDA club members will be showing. So I guess we’ll have to go to one show on Saturday, then the next show on Sunday!
Next weekend is even worse (better?)! I can’t count how many shows there are then! I do want to tell you about a show that has never been held in Florida before now – the Arabian Community Show, being offered on Saturday March 8th, 2008. The show is sponsored by the North Florida Arabian Horse
Club and will be held in the beautiful Jacksonville Equestrian Center. The show offers many featured classes like: Sport Horse In Hand, Sport Horse Under Saddle, Sport Horse Under Saddle Most Suitable for Dressage, All types of Halter classes for all ages, Western Pleasure and Equitation classes for all ages, Hunter, English Pleasure and Country Pleasure classes, Championships classes with percentage payoffs, and Specialty classes like Liberty, Lead Line and Native Costume.
On Sunday the 9th the 17th Annual Karen Fry Memorial Horse Show will be held at the same facility. This is an Open All Breed horse show which
means the Arabian horses can also enter a 2nd day show. This show offers many classes including some gaited classes for our gaited horse owners, some percentage payoff Championship classes and classes for all ages for both horses and riders. Laurine and Lonnie Fry, Karen's parents, will again present a beautiful trophy to the 1st place winner of the Good Sportsmanship Award and give 6 medallions to 6 deserving youngsters that they have observed during both days of showing. Sponsors and vendors are welcome and encouraged. The NFAHC is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization. Please contact Nancy Pooley (904) 291-6804 email: nfahc@home.att.net for information. on April 5-6, 2008, be sure to get them in before the closing date of March 15th. This show is an Official Region 3 USDF Qualifying Competition for the 2008 North American FEI Junior and Young Riders’ Championships with Judges: Axel Steiner FEI “O” (CA), Hilda Gurney FEI “I” (CA) and is also being held at the Jacksonville Equestrian Center. I am getting this newsletter out a little late this month and I had wanted to include a write-up and photos that I took of the NFHJA Jacksonville Winter Series hunter/jumper show by the Classic Company at the Clay County Agricultural Center, but since today is the last day of the month and I want to be sure you get notified of these upcoming shows. I will send another newsletter out early next month and include the article and photos. I got some great pictures of the ‘celebrity’ riders, candid shots of people at the show grounds, vendors and some great jumping shots, so be sure to look for it!
We have also made a ton of additions to our Equine Directory to include a whole new section for Events & Shows so that all of you vendors and show management can list your websites or business information. Remember, if you don’t see a category available for your equine-related business, just ask us to add one. It’s easy with our custom Content Management System. Feel free to add your listing in multiple places, too. If we see that you have added a Premium Directory Listing, we will go into our admin and assign your listing to multiple categories! And remember that if you have a Premium directory listing, you may send us press releases or articles about your business that we will add to the associated Resource Guide section.
As of today, February 28, 2008, we already have gotten over 563,000 views. That means we have already exceeded the 550,000 views from last month and this is a short month! We at HorsesintheSouth.com want to share our expansion with you and let us help you take your business to the next level. If you send us an email request for a banner ad to mktg@horsesinthesouth.com and mention code MAR08BANNER, you will get ½ off of a 3 month banner display AND we will give you a FREE Premium Directory Listing for all categories that your business is associated under. (Ask us to send you one of our DAILY reports so that YOU can see the numbers and all of the places in the nation that we reach.)
